We were on the train between Marayong and Quakers Hill. Usually I would get up and stand near the stairs with everyone else ready to get off. But I was too tired. Suddenly we hear a bang and something between a squelch and a splash.
I didn't look around because EVERYONE always looks and it's usually nothing. However I started getting curious when people started doing double takes and turned to see.
This poor woman standing in the aisle was covered in egg. Someone must have thrown an egg at the train and aimed it so well that it came in through one of the open windows. Her jacket was covered in slimyness and bits of shell. I tried to hold back a laugh… but I know that if it had been me I probably would have cried.
In other news I would like to announce that our front door has decided to stop functioning. We tried to answer the door last night and it literally would not open! The poor guy outside our door (probably trying to sell us something) just heard us rattling the door yelling 'sorry, it won't open!'… So for now we have to go through the garage which is kind of an obstacle course with all the stuff in there.
Perfect house still evades our fingertips… but we are getting closer!

So we went to Bar Italia on Friday night. It was really nice, I had gnocci and he had chilli prawns. This resulted in a certain amount of steam coming out of his ears… but apparently it was worth it
. I felt a bit off (lucky I didn't go to the other two events that I should have/could have gone to) so instead of wandering we hopped into the car and drove down to the bay run for the nice view. F thought it was a great idea to put the car in 1st and take the hand brake off while we were parked. Let me just say that when he started the engine there was a moment, as we lurched forward, I thought we about to careen into the bay!!!
On saturday we looked at the most perfect house. Currently hoping beyond hope that we get said perfect house. We COULD get not-so-perfect house and I would be mildly happy however.
Went to the Macquarie Centre. It had many steps and columns. It was most tranquil. Watched Shark Tale and bought the BFG…. hmmmm… sometimes I wonder whether I'm really a grown-up. Maybe only when people are watching.
Got scolded by my surrogate mothers i.e. weirded_out and the muse for staying out too late on Saturday night. Got threatened with a CURFEW even!! I think I've changed roles somehow.
Staying inside listening to the thunder and rain was very nice. Although 'Drop Dead Fred' is possibly the weirdest movie I have ever seen. weirded-out cooked us yummy dinner – I knew she was moving in for a reason..
Trying not to get cranky at work this week – it's not good for my health.

Please note that I have just endured a long meeting taking minutes and I may still be in office stance….
It wasn't as eventful as our meetings normally are. Things that happen (and have happened include;
- a screaming match where they yell over one another and I try my best to resist the temptation of putting every word in the minutes.
- crying… which is only ever the one person… we're getting kind of used to it.
- They all get an hour long pep-talk
Things that DID happen include;
- My boss made a fuss because the tomato sauce bottle was empty.
- My other boss bored us all to tears by reading out terms and conditions of a company (an A4 page of minute writing).
- We gave everyone belly dancing belts and instructional DVD's so they can practise for our 'Arabian Nights' themed Christmas party.
- One of the guys gave me a 'J'Adore Montreal' t'shirt from his visit to Canada!
- We finished at 2.30pm – record!

I have concluded after much study that umbrellas are very unreasonable creatures. They break… on purpose, I'm sure of it. And I found yesterday that it doesn't stop there…. they STAB you with the snapped metal end!
But the best part of a rainy day is arriving home. Taking off your wet socks, changing into dry warm clothes and eating steaming hot food. It's almost worth feeling like a drowned rat…

I have decided that my feet are soft.
I bought new work shoes the other day… soft grandma-type shoes that I thought would make my feet happy. But no… currently I have a total of 3 blisters and walk with a limp. Stoopid feet.
I am NOT going to talk about how hot it was yesterday… I had too many other things on my brain to be too bothered by it.
So Mum is coming to visit tonight and the house is in one of the worse states it's been in since we moved in. I'm cringing just at the thought of her walking in. She'll start huffing and puffing and won't rest until she's removed most of the junk. I don't mind the part where she cleans up… but I feel like it reflects on my ability to keep a house. I CAN clean! I promise!
I have a list of excuses as long as my arm as to why the house is a pigsty… but I'm not sure if they're gonna cut it.
I'ts amazing how much better I feel now I have that out of my system….

Here goes my traditional post-stump debrief….
THE INJURIES
I managed to escape blackstump unscathed… how… I don't know. Apart from a few minor 'how the heck did I do that?' bruises – I did fine. Haha! A major improvement on my first stump where I was stoned AND a trailer fell on my hand!
THE MUD
So ankle deep mud was not fun on Friday night. It was kind of amusing to watch how pple delt with it though. Some people (like me) did a kind of ballet dance trying to tiptoe through it while avoiding the worst parts(didn't work). On the other end of the scale there were the people who just sludged right through it until they had inch deep mud attached to their feet. Anyway my shoes are now outside on the deck – I'm not sure if I'll touch them for a while.
THE BOOT-HUNT
So we went out shopping on Saturday morning to buy gum boots because 1. I wasn't going to put my muddy shoes back on in a hurry and 2. It was going to be fairly impossible the navigate around stump without them. So we had high hopes of finding boots as we walked into Bunnings Warehouse. BUH BOW! No boots to be found under a SIZE 9! Apparently stumpers had cleaned out all the boots within a 50km radius! After wandering aimlessly through shopping centre after shopping centre we did find boots eventually… and dragged our weary bodies and blistered feet back to camp. Totally worth it in the end by the way…. I think.
THE MUSIC
Although I didn't get to see as much as usual due to circumstances beyond my control… what I did see was great. Caxton rocked on Sunday night (although the stressed-out Friday night set wasn't bad either). I do believe they are turning into TAJHM with all their 'extra members'. Anna was Anna… except married. Joel Hockey's jokes were still funny and Prairie Dawn just lifted your heart. So much other stuff I didn't get to see….
THE GAS INCIDENT
Ok so we now know that a leaky gas lamp + 6 people in a tent = hysterical laughter and a hangover. But it was still pretty fun… even tho we were high on gas… :S
THE FOOD
I would like to go so far as to say we had the best food ever! Organisation and planning went into our meals and it was very much worth it. Hehe.. the jealous looks at our french toast… so funny. Oh.. and the washing up after every meal… priceless.
THE BOY
Being our first stump together… it was nice. Enough of the soppiness…
THE FOOT
We continued the tradition and got our feet plastered again this year. Despite my mistake of wearing a skirt (not good when your foot is stuck up in the air) and 'stealing' the cute rock-boy from Jess to do the plastering (seriously I wanted the arty chick!)… it was so fun. I love it… it's like art class in primary school.
THE GENERALISATION
Overall – Blackstump always has it's yuk parts and it's great parts. The good stays in your memory and the bad, you laugh about a few months later when it's not so fresh in your mind.
I loved it all the same.

AND I have exactly *does quick calculation* …48 mins until freedom!
I am so ready for bstump, the late nights, the earplugs, the incredibly lazy mornings dagging around in your pj's and the dodgy meals cooked on mini gas stoves. Of course, we'll be expecting a large amount of dampness and mud this year.. but hey.. it's part of the package.
Most of all I'm looking forward to a break… a decent 4 day long laze/fun-fest. Zonino!
