Removaling

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:43 pm by Sarah

Another 3-day week… but it's doesn't feel like a holiday. Work is piling up at work and any time at home is spent procrastinating from packing… and sleeping.

So this Saturday we shall move into the charming residence of 15 Brendan Pl (with an 'a') Quakers Hill. Our family shall grow by one and I shall have a ensuite and walk-in. The prospect of this is good… but the thought of sorting out my dresser… or the garage for that matter… makes me want to hide.

Will the bribery of copious amounts of coke entice the masses to help? Time will tell.

Virus = Very Yes

So I set off on Friday in the hot weather feeling kinda ok and arrived in Parkes in major rainage and with a horrible blah-cold. It's amazing what can happen in a 5 hour drive…

I went to Lucy's formal and it was a very Parkes High formal… lots of 'this is the only life you'll live so make the most of it' and 'live your dreams'. I pretended to puke while sitting at the back table. But Lucy looked lovely and I'm sure she enjoyed herself until we saw her again at 11am the next morning.

After Dad gave my car the once-over we discovered, to quote my Mum, that I got to Parkes on the 'smell of an oil rag'. Well… it seemed ok to me. Mega bonuses, however were getting my air conditioning fixed and Mum giving me new hand towels.

The way home was not so eventful…. I stayed awake which was kinda good – and I drove under 80 kph so the locusts would bounce off.

I arrived back in time to drag myself to an 18th and managed to hold off collapsing in a heap until later that night.

And then there was the farewellness of the Will O. All good fun… I laughed so hard… AND I remembered my lines!! Heeheheh… I don't think I'll ever sing 'So Long, Farewell' the same way again… Go the weirded_out slash muse slash rachey slash jesseciah slash jo team. And the other acts were good too…

And now I am operating on less than not enough sleep. On with the moving!

all dressed up…

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:18 pm by Sarah

I seriously considered titling this entry 'A ball that would make you bawl'… but decided it was too corny.

So I arrived home on Friday night so exhausted I could hardly speak. Table settings, raffle tickets, auction items, menus, sponsors, banners and numerous other things were all organised… I could rest.

The next day I went and got my hair done, donned my too carefully planned outfit and set off for the Sheraton.

I arrived to find my boss running around madly doing the last minute touches. I was to find out later that not only did the function room flood that day so they had to bring in giant fans to dry it, but the lighting on the auction items wasn't done and the tables settings were severely muddled! Talk about a great venue :S…

So I drank my champagne… made boring small talk and ate delicious seafood. We had a tenor belt out a few tunes during dinner and I watched as people bid thousands for auction items such as a signed picture of Mother Theresa, framed guns used in 'The Godfather' and a signed Beckham shirt. Oh, and don't forget the signed Delta Goodrem poster!

Got on the dance floor for a while, trying to avoid one of the company directors who always seems completely astonished that I am capable of dancing. But by 10.30 I was quite ready to call it a night. Call me old… but hanging out with work people always has the atmosphere of 'work'.. therefore it makes me tired. Unfortunately, being there with other people, I couldn't leave quite that early.

So we waited until the raffle ticket draw was over and moaned over the fact that we didn't have the winning ticket for the Palazzo Versace weekend away or the pallet of tile glue… and then trudged home.

Here endth the 2nd Annual Tile and Stone Industry Gala Event.

Lots of Goodness

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:18 pm by Sarah

Let me just steal someone elseâs post idea. I think itâs a good one considering all the whining Iâve been doing latelyâ¦

Goodness is learning how to cook asian â¦. and eating it. Goodness is a comfy bed and clean room. Goodness is knowing that youâre organised. Goodness is asking Will O all my questions. Goodness is a good hot cup of tea. Goodness is having time to stop. Goodness is a proper hug. Goodness is talking to someone who listens. Goodness is planning outings. Goodness is knowing that a week is only a week away. Goodness is a voice with a smile in it.

And the point is that all goodness comes from God.

I WAS cranky… now I'm not… I think

Cranky Points;

- I'm going to a BALL and I can't invite the boy. What the heck is point of going if I can't take anyone?

- We still haven't found a house…

- F is doing his exams and is way stressed out.

- I spent too much money on saturday

- Work is… work

Ok/Good Points;

- I'm going to a ball i.e. excuse to dress up, get hair done and eat nice food.

- Looking for a house has produced some amusing moments. One landlord proceeded to spend ten minutes telling us the ins and outs of how she watered her garden that week. Two words – HIGH MAINTENANCE!

- F will be finished exams AND uni for the year on the 19th… party time!

- I bought my outfit for L's wedding – so excited!

- Fried rice for lunch!

What's with today, today?

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:08 pm by Sarah

Everyone is calling in sick…. I don't blame them.

The bottoms of my pant-legs are wet because they are that little bit too long and drag on the ground. My sockette's are popping off my feet at any given moment. And I can't figure out whether I'm hot or cold. The little things are irking me today.

We're not a nice neat little family so we don't qualify for oh-so-perfect house. Not-so-perfect house would be great if we could find one. The moving date seemed so far away… now it seems too close! The real estate agent says “No saturday's no good for me… what about during the week?”…. don't they understand that people have to work in order to afford to rent????

Being positive takes up too much energy.

That's it… retail therapy is a must this weekend!

The Tree

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:17 pm by Sarah

The tree across the road looks as if it has been there forever. It looks like one of those trees that has been there since before this street had houses… and townhouse complexes.

As I type, this tree is being cut down and shredded to make way for yet another big complex to fill with too many people.

I'll miss it.
