Sunshine

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:43 pm by Sarah

I think I’ve been craving sunshine… I spent half the weekend soaking it up.

Saturday was lazy and nice. I finished my book, and my scarf. We also went on a walk, the first time I’ve been walking since I’ve been sick. I enjoyed seeing things by daylight, since I normally walk at night. Although there’s not much to see in quakers besides houses and parks.. I spent my time judging people by their front yards. What does a wishing well in the front yard say about the person who owns it I wonder??

We came home and I made a dessert which the recipe dictated as ‘Apple Betty’ but I turned it into ‘Cherry and Plum Betty with Oats’.. the crust didn’t stick together as well as I hoped, but it tasted good.

We tripped off to Tim’s for Thai and games and pudding. I am always a little intimidated when going to an event where ‘board gaming’ is on the agenda. I guess I assume people who are into games are also very competitive. Anyway we ended up playing Carcassonne City… I teamed up with Eve and somehow we won. I’m now developing a theory that I only win games when I’m playing them for the first time (I haven’t won Trains for oh so long :( ).

Sunday morning I felt rested and ready to take on C@hos. It was a little crazy but ok. I felt like fresh bakery bread (Haoran is perplexed by my habit of eating the crust right after I buy bakery bread.. so good..) so I picked some up on the way home along with some grilled fish for lunch.

The afternoon involved some reading/falling asleep in my green beanbag in the sun which was quite nice if not slightly dehydrating.. :)

Dave preached at church which I really enjoyed. New ministers or ministers in training are always interesting, they haven’t developed a concrete style and they think outside the box. Dinner was full of wedding talk with both Jo and Helen (the fiancees!!) there. I stayed and washed up after dinner and I wanted to stay to say hi to the 7pmers but H needed to go home.

I have recently discovered that work is basically giving me an extended contract until they can get my position approved for budget. Good news in a way… In the meantime we’ve started planning a week-long holiday to get us through the rest of the year. Yay!

Smoosh..

The guy who sits across from me at work just came back today after a 6 week tour of Europe with a glazed/relaxed look in his eye and facial hair. I’m so jealous… but not of the facial hair.

I, however, am looking quite cute today with my head cocked to one side as a result of jarring my back yesterday while closing the garage door. How the heck does that happen?? I am so not happy.

We’ve had a busy week. despite my cold-that-won’t-go-away slowing us down a bit. We saw Angie Hart on Thursday with some friends… fun but short. Angie wore too much eye make-up but she sounded ok… plus the guy from Holidays on Ice was playing too. We were on table number 1 – obviously my obsessed husband was the first to book.. :)

Then we stayed in the city on Friday night and relaxed. Saturday was a yummy buffet breakfast, shopping, Haigh’s chocolate frogs…. and a bit more shopping. Then a lazy train ride home and sushi. Next year’s version of this will probably involve driving out to the Crown Plaza for breakfast.. and regular chocolate frogs.

The one after the silence..

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:46 am by Sarah

Wow… I think that’s a record period of blog silence for me.. (that is: while i have had access to a computer)..

In this time;

- a husband had his wallet lost/stolen and subsequently received a mysterious hand-written envelope in the mail containing his license which had been found at a random bus stop somewhere.

-a Beach mission meeting was had and Thai was eaten.

- a X Box was played, mostly ‘Worms’ in which cute teams of worms blow each other up with various weapons whilst managing to be extremely hilarious.

- an ex-flatmate got mawied amidst saris and balloons and I danced way too much considering how dead I was at the time.

- a cold/flu/tonsilitis was had….during which 2.5 seasons of Friends was watched.

- 3 squares of rug were knitted and a scarf started.

This weekend happens to be very ‘family’.. with a family day organised by my extended family for Saturday lunch, dinner with Haoran’s family… and a Sunday brunch with my parents and sisters. We may survive..

And I’m eagerly looking forward to spoiling my beloved husband coz tomorrow is his birthday.. :)
