Spotty

I just spent all of my lunch break exploring the shiny new mega Spotlight that just opened up down the road.

*sigh* I could have spent all day there.

Much crafting to do tonight!

mish mash

So I painted my annual plate last night (3rd year in a row ,no less) at the church Christmas Craft night.

Last night also happened to be the absolutely only time ever that I could see my specialist. I mean it was either 8.45pm on a Wednesday or February 2007! Curse rich doctors who can afford to take two month holidays!!

So I was torn between trying to chat to people, look after other people and try and get my plate painted in something like a 10 minute window of time! Worst of all – the plate is gift for someone – so if I stuffed it up, it would suck alot.

Thankfully the doc was running late so I didn’t miss my be all and end all appointment. It took five minutes and I got my semesterly “Take more meds and tell me if you get pregnant” … and paid him way too much for the trouble.

We’ve also had a addition to the family recently. It’s huge, flat and kinda shiny. And it totally contradicts our we-hate-television philosophy. I maintain that we will continue to be tv-free-dvd-only people… it’s just a little … bigger.

Ah, well, what can you do?

Wobbly

Posted in Journal at 2:02 pm by Sarah

- Got told prematurely at least three things I’m getting for Christmas…. grrr. Whatever happened to surprises?

- Bible study at work didn’t work out – mainly because of the bad weather.

- Went walking and felt much better – wish I had time to walk more than once a week.

- Found a dress that fits me everywhere!!!! (an ongoing major frustration is that most dresses look simply hideous on me)

- Farewelled yet another good friend from my workplace.. curse those temp positions!

- Finding it hard to sit/stand/sleep with a past back injury that flared up yesterday. It’s making me grumpy and tired :( .

- Haoran got me the latest ‘Fables’ – and I got rebuked for finishing it in 40 mins.

Pray

Posted in Church/Ministry, Journal at 12:27 pm by Sarah

I just have to say it’s amazing how God works.

Over the last week I have had people seeking me out at work to talk about the bible. It’s incredible! And I know it’s all God’s doing.

Prayer would be appreciated. :)

Therapy

Posted in Journal at 3:57 pm by Sarah

So the week ended beautifully with a relaxing social Saturday.

I spent brunch/lunch with girlfriends which was extremely theraputic. It’s not often that you get to spend a lazy day chatting and laughing at lame movies and chatting some more. I missed it more than I realised. In the ‘girl’s house era’ it was the norm – now it’s rare and special and to be cherished. I could tell the other recently married girl in the group felt the same way. :)

And then a impromptu catch-up dinner with the Atwoods which was also very nice. We played Blockus and ate indian and Lorien made roti bangla-style!

On Sunday I deliberately took a nap in the afternoon in order to be awake enough to hang around for 7pm church. The youth group happened to be running the service and I found the kids I had remembered from a year ago (when I retired from leadership) had grown up and started wearing dresses and make-up. It weirded me out a whole lot. It was nice that they remembered me still and wanted me to come back (I won’t be – but it’s nice to be wanted).

The remaining time was spent catching up with numerous people, watching some brain storming for the up coming talent quest (involving alot of silly dance and high-pitched singing), and just a few D&M’s. It was late before I realised I’d forgotten about my poor husband who is still recovering from his Bug and quite tired.

The week ahead holds for me; a new experience, a wedding, a dinner party and hopefully a fair chunk of time in which to prepare yet another study…

Scrappy

Due to a combination of factors including a sick husband and bad sleep.. it’s been a bit of a shocking week. You know the type when you can’t bring yourself to do the washing up or fold the washing because it’s just too hard?

Poor Haoran got hit with Bug Version 1.2 and hasn’t really been doing much except  blowing up aliens and playing cricket or grid iron on the XBox. Thankfully, XBox has been a good release for me too this week.

We found a very cool game called ‘Monkey Madness’ a few weeks ago (and of course monkey=cool). On it you can play monkey kayaking, monkey tennis, monkey racing and my favorite.. monkey boxing. I’m starting to beat H quite alot in this game.. although, I think I might be breaking his spirit..

Unfortunately (for my waist) chocolate has also been a big factor in getting through this week. I credit making a tight deadline at work completely to a block of hazelnut cadbury which my workmate had the incredible presence of mind to buy that day.

I’m hoping that the above + lots of hugs will = a sane Sarah by the end of this week.
