For the first time in a long time, I had a lovely quiet Saturday.

H went to Word by Word and I was left in quietness and contemplation. I finally watched ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ and ‘Fantastic Four’.

‘Little Miss Sunshine’ was a bit weirded-out.. but ok. Perhaps I’m not deep enough to ‘get’ dark humour. But even it’s arty-ness seemed kind of shallow. It almost seemed Hollywood-ish at the end where everyone lives happily ever after.

‘Fantastic Four’ was very cool.. a bit fluffy… but I liked it alot. Now I can look forward to the next one!!

I spent the rest of the day cleaning and housekeeping which was really good actually. I don’t often have a big chunk of time to do it in, and I don’t normally focus as well when H is around.

We finally picked up our new table from Campbelltown on Sunday morning and it was even better than we thought! It is absolutely solid and fits beautifully into our house. Unfortunately it didn’t come with chairs so now we’re on the hunt.. :)

Haoran is driving up to Sawtell today on Beach Mission business and I have been left with the delightful task of christening our table and saying goodbye to lovely L tonight.

In pictures and words

We spent a couple of days in Parkes on the weekend. It was nice and quiet and relaxing. Usually we are there when something is happening.. Christmas.. a birthday.. etc. But this time it was just us, visiting.

Snotty

Posted in Journal at 2:17 pm by Sarah

My workmate and I have been amusing ourselves by calling each other ’snotty’ (she has had a massive flu for the last 3 weeks) and ’smelly’ (just coz) in the last week … don’t worry – we have that sort of relationship:). Anyway.. little did I know that I would be the snotty one over the weekend. Read the rest of this entry »

Customised Handbag

Posted in Projects at 10:34 pm by Sarah

So after a few weeks of figuring out what I liked best in a handbag, and several late night inspirations (most of my ideas come to me just as I’m falling asleep – luckily I remember most of them!) I finally got around to making my customised handbag.

handbag 1

The measurements were based solely of the size of my diary which needed to fit! I also made the little pockets on the both the inside and outside of the bag for the smaller things (like keys or my mobile) that I can never find in my bag.

handbag 2

I absolutely love the material, especially the inside!.. but after I made it I realised that my clothes would hardly ever match! Oh well.. it was heaps of fun to make :)

Raindrops

It’s raining… and I mean raining.

I’m so glad we decided not to go away this weekend. How nice is going to be staying indoors and feeling warm and dry and comfy-like? Plus we’re enjoying the goodness of our big-mama doona (at least a metre thick) which has emerged this week :) .

In other news …it’s official… we are down to be part of the studio audience for the first record of ‘Enough Rope’ this year! So excited! Although I hope we get someone interesting and cool, ie. NOT someone like Peter Foster who completely creeped me out the other night. It will be interesting though, I’ve never been to a tv studio before… I’m sure I’ll be all tingly!

a little nuts

Posted in Journal at 2:13 pm by Sarah

Ever had a week where everything just happens?

It’s not just us either! It seems like everyday we find out a happening… someone’s engaged, someone is pregnant, someone gave birth, someone’s in hospital….

Despite our ‘happening’ and somewhat stressful week, we managed to cope with a fairly full weekend without too many casualties :) .

I spent a very lovely afternoon with Miss J and L and discovered the many joys of venturing into the outside with a 2 week old. Having said that, the baby was incredibly tolerant of the loud noises at the Blacktown Festival and we managed to complete our goal of finding delicious Greek honey balls:), and general pottering.

We also managed to deal with cooking dinner for our congregation as well as doing music on Sunday night! I spent music practise running back and forth to the kitchen to check my noodles… but it did all work out in the end.

I’ve started sitting on a gymball at work in hopes that it will improve my back muscles and therefore prevent the headaches that I seem to be prone to. Although I must admit that I’m using my office chair at the moment. The ball takes a bit of getting used to because of all the balancing and bouncing!

Also, this week, we bought a dining table off ebay. After some careful lunchtime researching for the perfect table (I had very specific criteria, it had to be oval, extendable, not too big, not too small) we found it and bid on it! Surprisingly no one else wanted it and we got it for the very decent price of $9.95! Now to figure out how to pick it up :)

I have been doing a bit of creating but haven’t had a chance to load the pics yet (plus, one is a present). So stay tuned!

Sorry about the all-over-the-place blog… mishmash week = mishmash blog!
